Introducing The Sponsor a Cat Pen Scheme

A Cat Pen is made of wood, so how can sponsoring a cat pen be of any benefit to the cats?

Simple, your money isnt going toward the upkeep of the Cat Pen, its going to the cats who occupy that pen. So we can then ensure that as far as possible we can supply the cats with all the comforts of home, making their stay with us as pleasant as we can make it.

When a cat first arrives, its naturally traumatised, especially if its one of the many who have lost their owner, home and sense of security all in one go, and then find themselves in an outdoor pen, surrounded by strange cats, and in some cases outside for the first time in their lives. All these things can cause a great deal of stress to a cat, and that in turn brings on illness. We often see cats who develop crystals in their urine, which could affect them for the rest of their lives, so to try and eliminate this we provide a Cat Water Fountain for each Cat Pen, which has proved a big success.

Activity Centres, such as this one keep the cats interest aroused, ensuring that their stress levels remain low.

 Our fosterers do their  very best to ensure these cats are well cared for and given as much love and affection as possible, but  without a doubt, a comfy fleece, and some toys with which to interact  as well as some delicious food treats all help them to adjust to these changes in their lives.  And this is why we need your help, the costs involved can be huge, with Vet Bills, food, litter, essentials, heating lighting, the list is endless.

We are starting with 4 outdoor cat pens each named after a Greek God, don’t worry the ‘Magpie’ names will be coming next, and after several requests, yes, I can say one will be called, ‘Shearer’.

I have chosen Greek God names as our starting point in the hope that some of the attributes associated with the Gods will rub off on the occupants of the pens, giving them the best start we at Cats Protection could possibly give them on their journeys to new homes and lives.

These pens are where we house the adult cats who come into our care, some of whom stay a while, for various reasons, some because they are not too well, and need gentle nursing back to full health, some because they have lost their faith in people and need to be gently nurtured back to trusting us, and some may have kittens so need to stay till their motherly duties are over, and they are ready to be rehomed.

Sponsoring a cat pen, gives you the opportunity of helping these cats, by sending a regular amount by standing order each month, all of which will be spent on your chosen pen and the cats who live in them.

In return we will send you a Certificate of Sponsorship, and regular email updates on your pen, along with the stories and photos of the occupants, giving you the chance to experience what its like working as a volunteer for Cats Protection. You will experience the joys and the tears along with us. You can even visit your chosen pen from time to time and meet the occupants, you never know, you may be able to help us with rehoming by spreading the word, just email us and we would make arrangements for you to do this.

You can sponsor a cat pen from as little as £4.00 per month, the amount is entirely up to you, come on, think about it, for as little as £4.00 per month you could help, not just one cat in need, but hundreds.

What better start to a new life could we give our cats but the attributes of these Gods?  Lets hope the names of these 4 outdoor pens, brings them luck, good fortune and a good and happy life from this point on, and the toils and troubles of their pasts remain in the past, never to return and bring them further heartache.
