Those
of you who want us to rehome older cats, would you please consider that
a cat who has been used to a home, will suffer greatly by being placed
into an outdoor pen, imagine how stressful that would be for it, and a
cat who is stressed can become very ill indeed. So please try to rehome
your cats yourself before placing them in a situation that no matter
how good the care is, will possibly make it very ill.
Febuary 2008
WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT TAKING OLDER CATS INTO OUR CARE. THE REASON IS SIMPLY A SHORTAGE OF FOSTERERS, AND OLDER CATS BLOCK SPACES WE SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD TO DO.
YOUNG CATS AGED FROM BIRTH TO 5 YEARS CAN BE PLACED ON OUR WAITING LIST TO COME IN.
IF YOU HAVE FOUND A CAT THAT YOU FEEL REQUIRES EMERGENCY TREATMENT DUE TO AN INJURY OR ACCIDENT, PLEASE CONTACT THE
RSPCA ON 08705 555 999
REMEMBER WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER
CATS WHO COME INTO OUR CARE ARE KEPT IN OUTDOOR PENS AT A FOSTERER'S HOME
AND AS A RESULT PLACES ARE VERY FEW
IF YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR OWN CAT FOR WHATEVER REASON, PLEASE TRY ADVERTISING AND OTHER RESOURCES BEFORE CONTACTING US
AS OUR PRIORITY ARE CATS LIVING OUTSIDE.
ALSO PLEASE CONSIDER HOW STRESSFUL IT IS FOR A HOUSE CAT TO HAVE TO GIVE UP ITS HOME AND LIVE IN AN OUTDOOR PEN UNTIL IT IS REHOMED.
IF YOU WISH TO REPORT A STRAY CAT THAT HAS BEEN SEEN OUTSIDE FOR MORE THAN 8 DAYS PLEASE ENSURE THAT AN AD HAS BEEN PLACED WITH A NEWSAGENT OR IN THE LOCAL PRESS AS THE LAW REQUIRES THAT THE FINDER MUST REPORT THE CAT FOUND BEFORE PLACING THE CAT WITHIN A RESCUE. ONCE THIS IS DONE PLEASE USE THE ONLINE FORM ON THE PAGE ENTITLED 'REPORT A STRAY'
NOTE:-
IF YOU ARE PREPARED TO WAIT FOR A SPACE IN ORDER TO REHOME YOUR CAT, PLEASE ENSURE THE CAT IS FULLY VACCINATED AND NEUTERED. THE VACCINATION CARD FOR THE CAT MUST BE GIVEN TO CATS PROTECTION.
REMEMBER A STRAY, MAY WELL BE SOMEONES CAT, SO ALSO CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND REGISTER ON THIS SITE AND WITH YOUR LOCAL SHELTER OR VET TO SEE IF THE CAT HAS BEEN REPORTED LOST AND WHILST THERE ASK THE VET TO SCAN THE CAT FOR A MICROCHIP.
Daily we receive many requests for us to take in Cats for all kinds of reasons, allergies being the most common ( read my info on Petal Cleanse by Bio Life currently on the Hints and Tips page). Being a small branch we cannot help everyone, as we only have a vacant space if we rehome a Cat and dont have an emergency waiting to take its place.
Our priorities, are Cats living outside, and those in desperate situations, and even for those, I have to keep a waiting list and prioritise them.
Many stray Cats have no wish to adopt the 'fireside' life, many are so used to their outdoor life, we do them no favours by bringing them in. So, if you have a stray, by all means contact us, but try offering it food, and shelter, and by that I mean some kind of shelter, outside the house. If the animal is friendly and desperate for shelter, then you must by law, advertise the finding of the cat before taking to a shelter.
Many of these Cats do come into houses, but very few of them stay there, most, have a meal, then go and cry at the door to be outside again. If you have a stray that does this, ask yourself, are you doing it any favours by contacting us?
Those of you who need to rehome their own Cats for whatever reason, must understand that those Cats will come lower on our list of priorities. So, please try advertising them yourselves, or contacting the Dog and Cat Shelter whose turnover is most certainly quicker than ours.
For those of you willing to wait, please fill in the form below, and submit it to us for addition to our waiting list. Also we would ask you to remember we are a self funding charity, so I would ask you to consider the costs we are going to incur keeping your cat until it is rehomed and consider making a donation towards those costs. Remember we DO NOT accept non vaccinated cats.
NOTE:- The form only caters for up to 3 Cats, the reason for this is that the Outdoor Pens, in which we keep the Cats are only suitable for a limit of 3 Cats per household. If you have more than 3 Cats to rehome, please email us using the Contact Link on the Contacts page.
Please do not use this form for litters of kittens you want us to take, use the form on the "Kitten Litters" page
If you have a landline telephone number, please give us
that in preference to a mobile number as the Charity really wants to
spend all its money on the cats not on phone calls, and calls to
mobiles are way too expensive.
Giving us an email address, means we can confirm your request at no charge, plus your confirmation comes through quicker.
