Meet The Fabulous Blackberry ! A lovely natured 2 year old queen - REHOMED 2nd Jan 08

This beautiful queen was found wandering the streets and desperately needed our help. She is now neutered, and very friendly indeed. We feel she is quite young, and would suit a home without children, as she enjoys play and likes to grab your attention by reaching out with her paw, this wouldnt be a good idea around small children. She isnt used to other cats and appears nervous of dogs. She is neutered, chipped and fully vaccinated, and would make a lovely companion pet.
No More Applications for Blackberry Please

These Kittens are now Booked to go to their New Homes-Our Coronation Street Stars !Jack & Vera & Sean & Marcus

(Jack & Vera pictured)Four Kittens were found living wild on an Industrial estate, where they were foraging for food among bins and very dangerous machinery.

The workers were also feeding them scraps of sandwiches etc and they alerted us when they saw that the kittens had eye problems.

All kittens including Vera who was the most bad tempered of the bunch, are now happy and playing well together. We would however want very quiet homes without small children for these kittens, and owners who understand how loving these kittens can become once they have given them lots of love and patient handling.

Please Note:- We will not separate the pairs that have already bonded, nor will we rehome over the Christmas period to households who may wish to have family gatherings etc over the festive period. This wouldnt be fair on owner nor kittens. ( Sean & Marcus)

NO MORE APPLICATIONS FOR THESE KITTENS PLEASE

Quinn - A Truly Handsome Young Male - NOW HAPPY IN HIS NEW HOME- No More Applications Please

Quinn was originally found as a stray kitten in the Wallsend area, and was taken in by a family who already had a cat. The two cats never managed to make friends. Quinn was allowed to go outside and was known locally as 'The Asbo Cat' as he would show aggression towards any cat he happened to meet.
He is only approximately 16 months old, so still a very young cat. However, as he is used to being allowed out, a new owner would need to consider whether or not his lack of social skills towards other cats could cause a problem within their neighbourhood.
It would of course be possible to keep this boy as an indoor cat, but that would need patience and understanding from his new owner, as initially he would pester to be outside.

NO MORE APPLICATIONS AT THE MOMENT PLEASE

tsy - A Stunning Black & White Boy- REHOMED 22ND FEBRUARY
Itsy's owners have had to request that we find a new home for Itsy. It appears that the two existing family cats would not accept this youngster into their home, and kittens being kittens, Itsy couldnt understand what he had done wrong, and kept trying to engage them in play which the cats objected to in the strongest manner. He is a very young cat, who has much to offer the right family. He is only 6 months old, neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. As you can see by the photo, he loves his toys, and would make a fabulous family pet as he was brought up with a 7 year old child. However, due to his bad experience of other cats, he would best in a home without other cats. We also feel Itsy would prefer a home where he could go outside, so a home that is NOT beside a main road would be best for him. Please fill in the adoption enquiry form below and I will put you in touch with Val, who is caring for him at this time.
UPDATE 25th January - No More Applications for Itsy Please

Meet Lobo - A Lovely Placid Male Cat - LOBO HAS NOW BEEN REHOMED !

This really fabulous boy, and I know he looks grumpy in this photo, but the camera in this case 'doth lie!' was found as a stray, but as you can see is in lovely condition.

He has just come into care, so will need to stay till around 7th February, as he has to be Vet Checked, vaccinated and chipped, as well as a full character assessment done.
If you think he could be for you, then dont hesitate to complete an enquiry form by clicking the link below.
UPDATE 10TH FEBRUARY ; No more applications as Lobo has found his new home

Boycie A Handsome Tabby Boy -  GOING TO A NEW HOME 5th FEBRUARY

I received a call from a gentleman in Percy Main to say a stray cat had a terrible limp, and appeared to have a claw imbedded in the soft padding of his paw, so the cat went to the Vet and the injury treated. A few weeks later, I received another call from the gentleman to say the cat was limping badly once again. This time there was an emergency space for the cat, so rather than treat him and return him to the streets, we took him into care. On seeing the Vet this time, it was noted that it wasnt the pad this time that was causing a problem, but a bite he had received which went right through the upper part of his leg. Boycie, as we have called this stunning lad, is now ready for a new home, his bites have healed and he is vaccinated and chipped.
Boycie was already neutered, so we feel he may have belonged to an older person who perhaps died or went into care.
NO MORE APPLICATIONS FOR THIS CAT PLEASE, HE HAS NOW FOUND A LOVELY NEW HOME

Connie A Gorgeous Tortie Female - GONE TO HER NEW HOME -FEBRUARY 08

We first heard of Connie when a gentleman rang us to tell us that a stray cat had given birth in a derelict Church in the West End of Newcastle. The kindly gentleman, offered to give the mother cat a home, if we could take the kittens. Sadly on gaining entry into the Church there was no sign among the rubble of kittens, so we do not know the fate of the babies. Connie went to live with the gentleman, but sadly he took ill and was hospitalised, so Connie has had to come into our care, and a new home found for her. She is a young cat, neutered, fully vaccinated and chipped. She has lived with dogs when with the gentleman, but we do not know at this time how she would settle with another cat or with young children.
REHOMED FEBRUARY 08

Cats Protection Newcastle are offering to assist FIV+ Cats in other areas.
If you feel you can offer a secure home to any of these cats, we will pay for them to come to the North East.
You will find lots of information on FIV+ cats on this site.

SPECTRE A STUNNING BOY WHO IS FIV+ - THIS LOVELY CAT HAS NOW FOUND A NEW HOME
Spectre is a lovely cat with no vices at all, he is a happy playful normal cat, apart from his FIV status. Spectre and his brother Spooky were abandoned as kittens three years ago and were rehomed separately from the Forest of Dean Branch of Cats Protection. Spectre was apparently the victim of a fighting cat, and as that cat was NOT neutered, it is strongly suspected that this is how he contracted the FIV positive status.
FIV+ cats can live long normal lives and offer no threat to humans or any other animal apart from other cats. If you would be interested in adopting an FIV+ cat you need to be aware that an FIV+ cat cannot mix with any cats other than other FIV+ cats. So must be kept either as indoor cats, or allowed into the garden PROVIDING you have a secure covered over area where the cat cannot get out and others cannot get in.

NO FURTHER APPLICATIONS FOR SPECTRE PLEASE

Poppet A Young Tabby Female  -  POPPET HAS NOW FOUND A NEW HOME !

Poppet came to us after being found in the Holy Cross area of North Tyneside. She is a very young female, probably around a year old, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. After her time living outside she has become intimidated by other cats, so we feel a home where she is the only pet would be best for her. She doesnt like dogs and we cannot say how she will react towards small children. Poppet hasnt had the best start in life, as she was probably a kitten who escaped the home during her first season, and was then lost and terrified in a world she was not prepared for. She has settled down really well since coming into care, and we feel she would have lots of love to give a new owner who was prepared to give her a chance.

UPDATE 14th February - Poppet has now found a fabulous new home, so please do not apply to adopt.

SHADOW - A Tiny Little White & Black Shy Queen- REHOMED 4th MARCH

( available from the beginning of March )Shadow has only just come into our care, and is still a little shy, although she is learning very fast, that Val who is caring for her is her friend.  We have just had her neutered, chipped and given her the first of two vaccines. She is a shy little girl, still very young, who is a little afraid of other cats, and small children, so she will need a quieter home with understanding and loving owners, so may be ideal for those who need an indoor cat.
However if she sounds right for you, please complete one of the Adoption Enquiry Forms by clicking the link of that name anywhere on the page.
NO MORE APPLICATIONS FOR SHADOW TILL HOME VISIT COMPLETED THANK YOU

TAMSIN - A YOUNG BLACK & WHITE MUM - REHOMED MARCH

  • AVAILABLE FROM 10TH MARCH
  • DOES'NT LIKE OTHER CATS
  • CANNOT BE REHOMED TO NORTH SHIELDS AREA
  • IS FINE WITH CHILDREN
  • AGED APPROX 1 YEAR
  • VERY FRIENDLY

Tamsin is an adorable young queen less than a year old, in fact probably about 7 months of age, judging by her small stature and excellent teeth playful nature. She was found as a stray, heavily pregnant, in the North Shields area, where a kind hearted resident took her in and kept her till her kittens were old enough to be moved. Tasmin, has now finished caring for her kittens, which she did a remarkable job for, despite being so young. So in a few weeks time, she will be neutered, chipped, vaccinated and ready for a new home. Unfortunately we cannot rehome a cat to the area it was collected from, so we cannot home her to the North Shields area.
Tamsin is a very placid young female, who doesn't seem to be phased by anything, so would suit most families. Although we would not recommend leaving a cat unattended with very young children, no matter how placid the cat may be.

TAMSIN IS NOW IN HER NEW HOME - NO MORE APPLICATIONS PLEASE

RICKY & BOBBY - 2 GINGER BOYS
REHOMED 4th March

Available from 3rd March

These 2 adorable 7 month old kittens, brothers, came into our care through no fault of their own or their owners. They will be neutered, chipped and vaccinated, prior to adoption.  As these boys are newly into care, we will update the information here as soon as we learn more about them.

They will need to be homed as a pair !

They are used to children, but we do not recommend placing kittens in homes with very young children, and these cats would still be classed as kittens.

BONNIE, A Young, Tabby Queen - REHOMED MARCH 08

  • DOES NOT LIKE OTHER CATS
  • VOCAL
  • WOULD ADAPT TO BEING A HOUSECAT
  • AGED AROUND 1 YR TO 18 MONTHS
  • CANNOT BE REHOMED TO THE HEBBURN AREA
  • LIKES HER FOOD
  • NOT USED TO YOUNG CHILDREN

Bonnie was found scavenging on a building site in Hebburn. Advertising was done locally by the builders working there in an attempt to trace Bonnie's owner, but no one has come forward so far.  This young queen, who was quite frightened to begin with, is now starting to come out of her shell and proving to be quite a talkative cat, who loves her food and very friendly. Cats Protection will ensure that Bonnie is neutered, microchipped and her vaccinations started prior to her being adopted.  We feel Bonnie would be best suited to a home without young children.

Meanwhile if you feel Bonnie could be for you, then do not hesitate to complete an application form, by clicking any of the links on this page.

NO MORE APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME PLEASE

CINDERS & OLIVE - 2 YOUNG QUEENS - REHOMED MARCH 08

  • NOT USED TO YOUNG CHILDREN
  • WOULD NEED TO BE REHOMED AS A PAIR
  • FINE WITH DOGS
  • AGED 18 MONTHS & 2 YEARS
  • WELL CARED FOR CATS

These two queens have come into our care due to the owners work commitments, for rehoming as a pair. Cinders, aged 18 months is Grey, and is shy at first but very affectionate once she gets over her initial shyness. We think Cinders is a cross Russian Blue, hence the shyness would be typical of the breed. Olive, aged 2 years, is a forward cat, who comes forth for attention all the time. Both are neutered and are in the process of being vaccinated and microchipped by Cats Protection.
They have only been in our care a few days, so its very early days to give you a lot of information about this pair. although we do know they are fine with dogs.
If they appeal to you and you would like to meet them, please contact us via the online form, Adoption Enquiry Form, links for which are all over this page.

NO MORE APPLICATIONS PLEASE AT THIS TIME

THESE CATS HAVE NOW BEEN REHOMED - MARCH 08

TWO YOUNG QUEENS ABANDONED IN A CARDBOARD BOX

WE HAVE TO ADMIT TO MAKING A MISTAKE WITH THESE CATS

WE NOW NEED THEM TO REMAIN TOGETHER

Initially we reported that these cats could be rehomed separately, we were wrong !  It seems what we thought was a dislike of one another was actually a stress reaction to being a) confined together in a box b) being placed a pen with strange cats all around them. Cats who come into care do normally react to this, and we are used to seeing that, but with these two cats we did get it wrong. Now that they have been with us for two weeks, they are settling well and are playing with each other. So we DO NOT want to upset them further by separating them

Our apologies to those who have applied for one or the other

These cats only came into our care on the 27th February after having been dumped at our Vets in Ryton. We know little about them other than they are healthy, and quite young, but obviously a little stressed at this time. We will update you as soon as we know a little more about them.
Meanwhile if you are interested in them, then please click the link below and fill in an application form, then we can arrange for you to meet them as soon as they are a little more settled.

FALLON A LOVELY TABBY FEMALE

DUMPED ALONG WITH ROWAN IN CARBOARD BOX
AGED AROUND 9 MONTHS

CAN BE DOMINANT OVER OTHER CATS
CANNOT BE REHOMED TO THE RYTON AREA
AVAILABLE ON OR AFTER 12TH MARCH

Fallon, as you can see is an adorable tabby female, probably the sister of Rowan, although she is slightly smaller is stature and most certainly a tabby, having all the usual temperament of a tabby.  Fallon is the forward one of the two, and can be talkative. She is the first to come out and greet you, and is totally adorable. She is very young being around 9 months of age. She is now neutered, chipped, and has had her first vaccination. We cannot say how these cats will react to small children, as we have no history for them.
A home together is what we are seeking, where kittens and kitten behaviour is welcomed, as we feel certain that Fallon will be the energetic one of the two.

ROWAN THE SECOND OCCUPANT OF THE BOX ALONG WITH FALLON

DUMPED ALONG WITH FALLON IN A CARDBOARD BOX
AGED AROUND 9 MONTHS
A LITTLE SHY
CANNOT BE REHOMED IN THE RYTON AREA

Rowan is most likely a sister to Fallon, but she is different in personality in that she is shyer and takes longer to get to know you. But that doesnt mean she is anything other than a kitten. She is Black and White, neutered, chipped and has had her first vaccination. She has settled really well, and would love a home together with Fallon, where  her owner will seek her out to give her the love she craves, at the moment, Fallon wants to be the centre of attention when people are around.
These cats would love a home where they can run around, chase each other and be the centre of attention, so a home without other cats or dogs would be wonderful. If you are interested in this pair, please complete an application by clicking the link below.

NO MORE APPLICATIONS FOR THESE CATS PLEASE

ME & YOU AND A CAT NAMED BOO !- A HOME HAS BEEN FOUND FOR BOO

Cannot be rehomed to the Wideopen area

Boo is a fabulous neutered tortie queen, who just wants to lie in your arms and be loved. Her owner sadly died, and she went to live with a relative, but unfortunately they had a dog who wanted to play with Boo, and she wasnt up to the rough play at all, so, Boo came to stay with us. She has been a cat who has known lots of love and is a very content cat. So if you are looking for a cat as your companion, then look no further than Boo. Boo has been used to older children, so would be fine as a family cat. Boo will be fully vaccinated and chipped by ourselves.
