Last seen in Preston Avenue on 18th December. Very friendly. Doesn't usually stray far so we are very worried. He is 1 yr old. Neutered. No collar but microchipped. He is mainly black with a white streak on his face, a white chest and white paws. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi, We have a Garage workshop in Heaton and our alarm went off on 23rd December in the middle of the night , it did the same the next night so we thought it must be a rat. My husband put the CCTV on and today we saw it is a cat ! I got a trap from Cats Protection who have been most helpful and have put food and water in so we hope to get him. When the garage is locked up he has no means of escape but is warm and dry. He we are guessing a boy is mostly black with 4 white feet a white throat and chest. He has white smudges on either side of his nose and looks fit and well. Please get in touch if he sounds like your boy or let me know if yours has returned, You are the only person with a black and white and they sound similar. Regards Gillian

Sounds promising Gillian. If necessary, I do have a scanner if you catch him out of vet hours. Val

Hi Val, GOT HIM ! We put food in the trap went back 1 hour later and there he was and all the food gone. He ate some sardines from my fingers and had the odd hiss and spit but not to bad. We have left him in the canten till tomorrow and as we will be taking our dog to the beach early we will go back to feed him at 7.00am. I will see if he is calm enough to be scanned, he has such a cute face with the tip of one ear missing. Hope he has a good out come. If he is feral does anyone take them in I am such a softy and thinking about bad weather etc. Gillian

If the top of his left hear has been tipped, then he is probably a feral. That means he is a wild cat, has been trapped, and neutered. He should be released near to where he was found. A feral cat is not happy confined to a house. It would be torture for him. He may have lost the tip of his ear in a fight but unusual. Be very careful with him/her. He may appear calm but could attack if you put your hand into the trap. A wild cat is a wild cat. He could just be traumatised and appear calm. Take him to the vet tomorrow morning and ask their opinion. They may take a chance with him but they will use their expertise as to whether he is a feral or not and try to scan him for a chip.. Good luck

Hi Val, We went to the workshop early this morning and fed him and had a good look at him, yes his left ear has been cut straight across. We let him go in the bushes as we have seen cats there and he was off like a bullet from a gun. You could see he knew which direction to head off to and looked very happy to be free after 10 days ! Thank you for you help and I will return the cage after the weekend. Happy New Year ! Gillian

Hi Val, Sorry I have not been able to return the cage yet but will drop it by on Saturday afternoon if that is ok. I have been stuck in the house waiting for roof guys to give us estimates for the damage the wind has done which is a lot ! Lots of our old metal guttering has came down and brought woodwork down with it. Great start to the New Year ! Gillian

Get ready for the "metal guys" knocking on your door asking if they can have the old gutters and downcomers. They never fail. We had an old fridge and put it behind the front hedge until we could ring the Council to remove it. Within a couple of days it was gone and we had not rung the Council. If was good service although a made us a little nervous as how had they seen it behind a tall hedge? Should be in all tomorrow
