When out last night looking for Gizmo came across a Newcastle Council van parked at side of road looking for something. I asked them what they were looking for and they said a badger. Told them about Gizmo. They said Newcastle Council STILL don't scan cats or dogs. They remembered about what had happened to Dooby. I told them that i thought it was terrible as an owner needs closure

I can assure you that Newcastle City Council, now have a single scanner donated by ourselves, based at Byker.

The pets found roadside, are not scanned till they reach the depot, where I trust the scanner is being used.

14 weeks since Gizmo went missing

Have had no sightings or anything. Please someone must know something. I don't know what to do now in finding him. Has any of your neighbours got a new cat that you haven't seen before. I've had Gizmo since he was 5 weeks old and he didn't have a very good start in life before he came to me, he's a much loved and missed member of my family and the waiting is unbearable. Please help find him. Thank you

Hi so sorry you have not heard anything yet. I have a couple of friends in the longbenton area and my sister works there too so I will tell her to pass the message on. It's such an awful thing to be going through I have been there myself. Just take comfort in the fact there are good people out there who will no doubt be feeding him I bet! Hope you hear something soon Jenny x

I am so sorry you have not heard anything, good or bad about Gizmo, its heartbreaking as you cannot get closure.

I know its a long shot, and its a long time for people to try and remember him, but a photo shown to local veterinary practices may jog a memory of a cat that may have been brought in for disposal when found in a garden etc.,

You see the council only collect cats killed on the road side, not if they are found dead in a garden or private property of any kind.

I know disposal sounds an awful word, but trust me, Vets have accounts with a Pet Crematorium, and the bodies of the animals are treated with great respect by all concerned.

Gizmo is chipped

Hi Chris as Gizmo is chipped i hope that if he was found in some ones garden and they took him to the vets he would be scanned. I have started to come to terms that he is dead as i have heard nothing this time around. Sharon

What I was trying to say, is that if a cat is found in a garden, and not on a public road, then the finder has the responsibility of disposal.

Many people think they are doing the right thing by burying the cat in their garden, and never think of checking for a chip.

So all I am tying to say is that he may be either being kept by someone who hasnt taken him to a Vet or has been buried by a someone who doesnt realise that by taking the body to a Vet, it will be checked for a chip and cremated at no cost to them.

GIZMO HAS BEEN FOUND

Soo happy to say Gizmo has been found after 10 1/2 months missing.

A lovely lady from Fawdon had been feeding him for a week then put details of him on the animal search website on thursday night. I thought i would have a look and recognised his pic. Just can't believe it. Thank you soo much Yvonne. All i can say is DON't GIVE UP. Sharon xx

CP CATS NEEDING HOMES

We always have adult cats seeking new homes, our Cats are fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered, and come with 4 weeks free Insurance from PetPlan.

There is an Adoption Fee of £50 required, and of course if you wish to add a donation on top of that, we would be very grateful indeed. As you can imagine, neutering costs alone are eaten up by the adoption fee.

Visit the page to see the cats available by clicking this LINK or selecting the page in the top menu bar.
