Two weeks ago I placed a notice in the local evening paper, about my lost Cat Gus, giving description of the cat, the area where he is missing from, in the hope of finding some closure, as to what has happened to our much loved and sorely missed pet. All other  search avenues having been well and truelly exausted,

that was two weeks ago. On sunday night  19th(during the night!) I recieved three texts to my mobile informing me about a dead cat fitting the description of mine , where he was,

and why had I let him out!!!!!! this practice continued last night. despite me trying to ring the caller back they didnt respond,I have contacted North Tyneside Council  Envirolink who assure me no dead cat has been collected from the area stated in the texts, and all dead animals are scanned by the council workers, so as Gus is microchipped I felt more comforted.

..... The police are now involved and investigating the cruel texts It is bad enough losing Gus, but having to experiance someone being so callous, has made it just a bit more unbearble!!

Oh sweetheart, that is despicable!  I know exactly what you are going through.  I put flyers all over the area I live and also advertised in the Evening chronicle.  The members of the public who have contacted me were really sympathetic and helpful.  I'm so sorry to hear about the hoax txts.

I found out what really happened to my Dooby but because I didn't get to say goodbye, I am still tormented, and still expect him to wander in the house.

Try and stay positive pet, I truly hope Gus finds his way home to you. xxx

Hi,

Yes there are some sad people out there.

My Manx boy went missing in February and i put an advert in the Chronicle.

I never imagined the phone calls i would recieve from young men who sounded about 18 0r 19.

One said he had my cat and wanted £500 I agreed to give him this it then went to £1000 which I again agreed to at this point he said no I want to kill it and screamed down the phone.

This was one of 5 calls all of whom said they had him and had or were going to kill him.

I do not believe these calls were genuine but imagine if I was elderly or a child and recieved these calls.

I think when you place an advert you should be warned about this sort of thing.

I hope you get some good news soon from a true animal lover.

Good Luck

Gillian

i have put my number on chonicle and on numerous flyer and posters for my missing cat and had a few prank calls. a few of kids but even more worrying a couple of adults. it amazes me that people would be that sick to do such a thing x

Unfortunately there are a lot of sick people out there. They look to profit from those who are desperate. And those who have missing pets are to them an easy target.

And, if someone makes a threatening call of any kind, go to the Police, and dont leave till they promise to do something about it, (dont leave without a crime number)

Its bad enough not getting closure without some XXXX fill in the blanks yourself... adding to your grief and worry.

Please note, we only operate within the Newcastle upon Tyne/North Tyneside area.

CP CATS NEEDING HOMES

We always have adult cats seeking new homes, our Cats are fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered, and come with 4 weeks free Insurance from PetPlan.

There is an Adoption Fee of £50 required, and of course if you wish to add a donation on top of that, we would be very grateful indeed. As you can imagine, neutering costs alone are eaten up by the adoption fee.

Visit the page to see the cats available by clicking this LINK or selecting the page in the top menu bar.
