I was wondering what distance neutered cats can travel. I recently lost my cat in Wellfield Whitley Bay as he was hiding under my car and has fallen of. I saw him run away into the houses in that area, I am not sure if he is hurt but we live in Holywell which is approx 3 miles away. I was wondering what his chances of finding his way home will be.

Any cat, neutered or not has a territory of 16sq miles, although a neutered cat is less likely to have the natural urge to search territory, sometimes things happen, for example, they could get a scare, which would  bring natural instincts to the forefront, causing them to search their territory for dangers, where other cats are, etc.,

It is likely that every cat, male or female may consider doing this at least once in their lifetime.

A neutered cat is less likely to do it, as the males are not exicted by the scent of un-neutered females within their territory.

Sorry its take so long to respond, I didnt catch sight of your post till now.

Please note, we only operate within the Newcastle upon Tyne/North Tyneside area.

CP CATS NEEDING HOMES

We always have adult cats seeking new homes, our Cats are fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered, and come with 4 weeks free Insurance from PetPlan.

There is an Adoption Fee of £50 required, and of course if you wish to add a donation on top of that, we would be very grateful indeed. As you can imagine, neutering costs alone are eaten up by the adoption fee.

Visit the page to see the cats available by clicking this LINK or selecting the page in the top menu bar.
